Dear Parents,
For those of you who are new to my studio, I would like to welcome you and introduce myself. My name is Amy Manyet Geiman, and I started Manyet Dance in 1984. I began dance lessons at the age of five, became a demonstrator at the age of 10, and at 16 began teaching classes on my own. During college, I took many ballet classes at Northern Kentucky University and at University of Cincinnati, while also taking classes at the Dance Hall, in Clifton. I taught many years for Pearman and Connie's Dance Center (formerly known as Dynamic Expressions) and enjoyed my many experiences performing throughout the years. I was also a Queen City Gymnastics Team member for three years. After marrying my wonderful husband, Ken, I decided (with his encouraging support) to open a studio of my own in Highland Heights. We outgrew the space quickly and moved our location to Southgate. We now have five times the students that we had the first year and a wonderful teaching staff to go along with it.
Dance school owners and instructors do not, by law, have to be certified, but, I felt that it was important to do so for proper, quality teaching. I attended the two-year Dance Educators of America, Inc. Teacher's Training School at Western Kentucky University. I passed all levels and am certified for teaching all ages (beginner through advanced) in ballet, tap, jazz, and Pointe.
The dance world is continually changing and my teachers and I make it a point to further our education and techniques by attending at least two dance conventions a year, where we are instructed by the nation's leading choreographers and performers. In 2002 and 2005, I attended a Dance Educators of America (DEA) convention and took a group of students to the Dance Makers convention in Myrtle Beach. This year, our troupes and I attended the Northern Kentucky DEA convention of dance instructors at the Drawbridge Inn.
I have been the coordinator and teacher for the Powder Puff, Junior, Senior and Elite Dance Troupes. These troupes perform in competitions and many other local events during the year. Our dance troupes have performed at many area events and have won several top awards at accredited dance competitions.
Dance is a very unique art form. It teaches discipline, poise, grace, confidence and that working hard can produce wonderful results. My teachers and I strive to teach with love and respect, in a positive atmosphere, where learning is fun. We hope to instill the love of dance in the hearts of our students so that they can enjoy it for a lifetime. If, at any time during the year, you should have questions, or concerns, please feel free to talk with me.
Thank you for the opportunity to share the joys of dance with your child.
Sincerely,
| Amy Manyet Geiman | ![]() |
